John R. Erickson, AIA, specializes in residential architecture - both original and renovation. His focus is site-specific, with minimal impact on the environment and maximum health, beauty and harmony to the client. He designs furnishings, fixtures and buildings with attention to detail and respect to the natural environment. He has been featured in several magazines, including Sunset and American Homestyle as well as the books Outdoor Rooms, Designing with Spirituality and West Coast Rooms.

John became licensed by the State in 1992. As an undergraduate he attended the University of California at Santa Barbara in Environmental Studies, and worked for the Campus Architect on UCSB's long range development plan. He received his Masters of Architecture degree from the Southem California Institute of Architecture (SCI-ARC) in 1986. His last year was spent in Europe, both at SCI-ARC1s Vico Morcote and in a traveling studio with Michael Rotundi.

While working as an engineer for a small independent oil and gas company, he was lead designer on several alternative energy projects, including a co-generation plant and a tidal generator. In practice since 1988, he partnered with architect Polly Osborne for nearly ten years before starting his own office. He has worked primarily in Southern California during this time. He has been a member of the American Institute of Architects since 1993.
